Z CON Z CON Woodbine, MD Woodbine, MD Full-time Full-time $24 - $30 an hour $24 - $30 an hour 6 days ago 6 days ago 6 days ago Z CON is looking for experienced concrete finishers who have the ability to perform final sub-grade preparation and form construction for concrete placement on curb and gutters, sidewalks, aprons, slabs and walls.
A finisher must be able to level, finish, cure, saw cut, groove, broom or rake finishes, and grind fresh concrete and similar materials according to specifications and drawings.
Removes forms, loads and unloads equipment, tools and materials, and generally performs duties as required to satisfy the overall completion of projects.

Job Description - Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it.
Produce various final finishes on concrete surfaces based of job specific requirements, using rough/fine brooms or special groove rakes.
Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
Clean chipped area, using wire brush, feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven.
Apply sealing compounds to cure surfaces on concrete.
Operate power vibrator and other concrete tools.
Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.
Must perform general laborer duties as needed.
Skill Requirements:
Job requires the following motions; stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting, and possibly lifting to 50lbs.
Knowledge of slump, concrete testing, additives, curing procedures, spec requirements, weather conditions and their effect on job conditions and finishing procedures.
Must have knowledge of proper cross slopes and acceptable tolerances of all sidewalks, ADA ramps, curbs, driveways, and other concrete structures.
Additional Requirements:
Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew can operate at normal efficiency level.
Attitude/Cooperation, must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and public.
Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes.
Overtime work may be required.
Out of town/county/state work may be required.
Must have reliable transportation.
Work Environment:
Physical ability to work under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time.
Normal shift is 8-10 hours on site (but varies depending on job needs).
May be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
Safety:
Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition.
Personal Protective Gear Provided, with exception to work boots.
Hired employees will receive safety training and hence forth must always maintain the safety standards outlined within the company safety program.
Qualifications and
Experience:
5 years general construction experience (general laborer), 3

Work environment:
May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites.
Regular exposure to all weather conditions; must work outside in varying weather/driving conditions combined with regular work time indoors.
