Construction Project Manager

Construction Project Manager needed for the Specialty Construction Group branch of Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates in Woodbine, MD.
This group works on projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic area.
This group performs; Specialty foundation engineering and construction Soil nail retention systems Sheeting and shoring Compaction grouting Chemical grouting Sinkhole remediation Mini pile installation Foundation underpinning Foundation repair Candidate must be dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
Review trade journals, various General Contractor Bid Boards, to develop prospective leads.
Attend networking events.
Determine any value engineering opportunities.
Perform takeoff to determine materials, labor, and equipment requirements.
Determine soft costs and profit margin for each bid.
Prepare and submit bids and proposals Prepare support documentation for bid submittal (ie project experience, professional staff resumes, equipment lists, corporate history, pre-qualification forms, etc.
).
Attend pre-bid meetings.
Submit bids to prospective clients (municipalities, general contractors, sub-contractors, etc.
).
Follow up with low bidders and make efforts to negotiate for the proposed work.
The Construction Project Manager will also perform project management duties for successfully converted bids including:
Preparation of project submittals, Preparing construction schedule, Managing in-house structural design Setting up subcontract or rental agreements, Ordering materials, Participating in pre-construction/progress meetings, Ensuring conformance with project and HCEA safety requirements, Performing quality assurance inspections and testing (ie load tests and pull tests), Determining cost effective remedies for various problems encountered, Preparing change order submittals, Monitoring project budget and controlling costs for project profitability, Ensuring completion of work Working to ensure timely payment on project invoices.
Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Geology is preferred Preferred 3-5 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering or Construction Project Management (Specialty/General Contractor or Earthwork sub-contractor) Experience managing construction projects of varying size ($50,000 - $1,500,000) Experience estimating, specifically determining materials quantities, labor, and equipment requirements for various types of geotechnical/construction projects Experience with either sheeting/shoring, pressure grouting, or deep foundations is preferred.
Experience with all is ideal.
Some Business Development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients Experience managing construction projects and crews is a plus.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
